i've spent much of the past several months of 2026's cold, dark winter archiving media and cleaning up metadata. it's not a "hobby" i've ever really talked about because i don't consider it one - rather i see it as a practice i conduct out of necessity. there's such a vast infinity of creativity out there in the world, and a smaller infinity within that on the internet, and a much, much smaller infinity within that which i'm familiar with. efforts to capture and preserve this ephemera in its entirety are doomed to fail, and often miss the point. i also have a mixed relationship with the practice, mostly because as an artist i painfully understand the desire to nuke old work for all kinds of valid reasons, and the desire for some work to be transient and fleeting. but there's also media out there that's left such a lasting impression on me that losing it feels out of the question, and i empathize with others who want to preserve that. so, i hoard that which is close to me, but i try to be very selective. typically, media needs to meet at least one of the following criteria for me to archive it (in addition to being personally impactful):
1. "lost" media a.k.a. work the original artist has intentionally destroyed, or work that has largely vanished due to the passage of time.
2. "scarce" media a.k.a. work that was only created in a specific, limited form or capacity such as a limited vinyl pressing of an album.
3. "free" media. self-explanatory, work released without a paywall.
over the years i've eaten out of many others' hands to fill out my own archives, and i'm finally in a position to be able to give back a little bit. i wouldn't call anything i have comprehensive or definitive, but it is complete enough by my own standards and in the highest fidelity possible. i do not limit my sharing along any ethical lines - death of the author applies here as always. take the media for what it means to you, or leave it for others to enjoy. archive highlights include:
- FUTRET's entire discography
- ROXORFOXOR's entire discography
- adustam's entire discography
- HALLEY LAB's back-catalog, including live sets, mixes, and physicals
- RADDONS RECORDINGS back-catalog
- OST vinyl rips of various Studio Ghibli films
- IDKHOW's Razzmatazz vinyl edition, including hidden interstitals
- "Metal MIDIs" back-catalog
- Various doujin Touhou CDs
- Various esoteric trance, techno, and drum & bass collections, many only distributed through physical media
my archive can be found where you typically find these sorts of things. if you are unable to locate it and need something, reach out to me.
