i've been cooking for the past month or so on a longer writing project related to the modern automotive landscape. it's reached a point where i'm comfortable saying it'll be published here, i just don't want to set a hard deadline for myself since i can only pick away at it in between other obligations and it's not especially well-scoped. i want to give the piece however long it needs to properly resolve. what i can say right now is:

• it'll be longer than an article, but shorter than a novel
• the theme (broadly) is a data-driven analysis of the rise of SUVs in the US vehicle market, told through the lens of crabs
• i aim to identify and bring together as many contributing factors as possible, resulting in a holistic analysis that is painfully absent from most journalism i've read on the topic
• there are many stupid, funny, and odd asides i've found and documented along the way for your hopeful enjoyment
• per usual, everything will be made available for free

in the process of writing, i've also come to realize that the information i've aggregated during my research has much more depth than i can justify. it deserves a full novel's worth of devotion (or perhaps a multi-part video essay) to really dive into its details, but i don't wanna write a novel - my lack of experience would be a disservice to the material. if you are reading this and you know someone who is a content creator or author (channels that come to mind immediately are Speeed and Technology Connections) who may be interested in taking my work and building upon it, please put us in touch! you can contact me through any of the platforms identified in my about page, or send an email to mlem@anchovie.art.
